Gearing Up For A Big Couple Weeks

With such a big couple weeks around the corner for UIL State Events, it’s a busy time at the office. While there aren’t any big events to report this week, the next two weeks are an exciting time for everyone at the office.

Next Thursday through Saturday, May 5-7, is the UIL Academic State Meet held on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. More than 2,700 students compete in 24 events, including State One-Act Play, which has become one of the largest theatrical events in the world. The State Wind Ensemble Festival also takes place on Saturday, May 7. The State Wind Ensemble Contest was established in 1976 as a part of the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. The following week, May 9-14, will be one of the busiest times of the year for UIL Athletics with three State Championship events. The week will kick off with the State Tennis and Golf Tournaments held at venues around Austin. The week will culminate with the UIL State Track & Field Meet at The University of Texas at Austin.
