AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League issued penalties to schools and coaches for violations of UIL rules and handed down a decision on the eligibility of a student-athlete and on Thursday.
The Beaumont Ozen High School football program was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for two years for a football altercation. Beaumont Ozen head football coach Jeff Nelson was also issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for two years.
The La Marque High School football program was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for two years for a football altercation. Additionally, all sports programs at La Marque High School were issued a public reprimand and placed on probation until the end of the 2013-14 school year for a basketball altercation.
A student-athlete from Kennedale High School was denied their appeal for varsity eligibility upholding the previous ruling of the District 8-3A Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athlete changed schools for athletic reasons.
In other action, Wolfe City High School was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year for violation of Section 1210, UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Program.
Cushing Middle School coach James Moore was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year for violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest.
