FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League issued penalties to coaches and schools for violations of UIL rules and handed down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes on Wednesday.

McKinney High School coach Jennifer Bishop was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year for violation of Sections 1209(f)(1), off-season participation in non-school team sports, and 1209(g), coaching restrictions.

Texarkana Pleasant Grove High School coach Craig Jones was issued a public reprimand, placed on probation for one year and issued a five-game suspension for violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest.

Comanche High School coach Mickey Baker was issued a public reprimand, placed on probation for one year and issued a two-game suspension for violation of Sections 1209(c) and 1209(g) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules. Additionally, the Comanche High School girls athletic program was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year for UIL rule violations.

A student-athlete from El Paso Americas High School was denied their appeal for varsity eligibility upholding the previous ruling of the District 1-5A Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athlete changed schools for athletic reasons.

In other action, student-athletes from Odessa Permian High School, La Marque High School, Munday High School and Lockhart High School had their appeals to regain varsity eligibility granted after the committee ruled that the student-athletes did not change schools for athletic reasons.
