AUSTIN, TX - The Grapevine High School boys basketball team will have its previously forfeited victories reinstated as a result of the ruling made by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League Wednesday.
After hearing testimony from all interested parties, the State Executive Committee granted Grapevine’s appeal for the exception to the automatic forfeiture of contests for allowing an ineligible student to participate. The exception allows for the State Executive Committee to find the student in question ineligible and not require the participant school to forfeit contests if the school had properly verified eligibility based on the facts available to them.
In other news, a student athlete from Killeen Harker Heights High School will remain ineligible for varsity athletics after the State Executive Committee upheld a previous District 13-5A Executive Committee decision ruling the student ineligible for changing schools for athletic purposes.
